I live in a typical NYC studio with a small kitchen. Over the years, I have learned how to get by with less. For instance, I don't have a coffeemaker to clutter my countertop; instead, I use a one-cup Melitta filter. I don't have a toaster; instead, I use a toaster oven. I don't have specialty tools like strawberry hullers, apple slicers and egg poachers. Why, when I can use my own hands.
