I LOVE THE WIRECUTTER WEBSITE!!
Owned by The New York Times, The Wirecutter is a buyer's guide to the best technology — a list of the best gadgets — like cameras and TVs — found through testing and reporting done by veteran teams of journalists, engineers and researchers. The Sweethome is their home goods version for items like bedsheets, blenders, duct tape, and screwdrivers. Everything they choose is an award-winner. They only focus on presenting you with the things they love. Different than Consumer Reports. Friendlier. http://thewirecutter.com/
TURNING INTO A JOAN CRAWFORD OVER ALL THOSE ROBO CALLS?
A client told me about Nomorobo for landlines. I love it! I had to go through my RCN provider to set it up. It’s free. When your phone rings once and then stops, you know a robo call was blocked. PC Magazine gave it 4 stars in Sept 2015. Also available for iPhones. Coming soon on Android. http://www.pcmag.com/article2/0,2817,2492079,00.asp
DUST MITES BEGONE! BUT DON'T THROW THOSE BED PILLOWS OUT!
It’s spring and time to wash the winter bedding, pillows included. I see clients throwing out expensive bed pillows because they don’t know that they can be easily washed in the washing machine. Use an anti-chlorine bleach, wash on “delicate/warm”, read the labels on your pillows, and/or follow these instructions from Consumer Reports. http://www.consumerreports.org/bed-bath/how-to-wash-a-pillow/
HOW TO MANAGE ALL THOSE BUSINESS CARDS FROM YOUR LAST CONFERENCE
When recently organizing a client’s home office, I noticed she had boxes and boxes of business cards labeled by conference that had never been properly dealt with. Lost business opportunities? We discussed how to handle these going forward. I shared a Harvard Business Review article laying out 7 easy steps for digitizing, prioritizing and following up with prospects – all performed on her smartphone. https://hbr.org/2015/11/what-to-do-with-all-the-business-cards-from-your-last-conference
CLEAR ZIPPERED BAGS FOR TRAVEL OR FOR PURSE/SCHLEP BAG -- AVAILABLE AT THE CONTAINER STORE
Two things I love doing is helping clients create a travel department inside their luggage and helping them organize their purses/schlepp bags. Both involve compartmentalizing like items. I always recommend see-through zippered bags, often found at Ricky’s. I now see them at The Container Store. They come in medium and large, with several colored zipper options. Also available at Amazon. Google “zippered pouch clear”.
