HOW TO CREATE EXTRA STORAGE SPACE TEMPORARILY, OR FOR LONGER...

Sometimes, you just don't have the time or desire to deal and want to temporarily hide the accumulated clutter in your apartment/home for a variety of reasons:

  • You are tired of looking at it.

  • You are expecting guests.

  • You have run out of storage space on/off site.

  • You only need a temporary fix.

  • Your partner/family member(s) is complaining.

  • You are looking for a change of scenery.

  • Some or all of the above!

Below are several ways to wave a magic wand, become your own "clutter whisperer" and make that stuff "go away" for a short while, or even longer. I found these unusually nice room dividers at hayneedle.com. Search "room divider". Make sure whatever you buy is sturdy, opaque, high quality (not cheap and flimsy), blends with your decor and, if necessary, goes to the floor (to completely hide what's on the floor on the other side). It's always important to read the reviews!! Beyond providing a way to hide clutter, a divider can also bring in texture or serve as a piece of art

Alternatively, you can also use these dividers to provide the illusion of separation between rooms or to create a room within a room, or a dressing area. You can also use dividers to create privacy and camouflage an ugly view from a window (a fire escape, the neighbor's trash cans, etc.) Instead of the standard divider, consider curtains (also viewable on hayneedle.com). Or look at barn doors.
